Songwriting - Geneviève Labbé

Singer-songwriter Geneviève Labbé dedicates much of her work to young audiences. She has produced three albums, two of which are for children, created two musicals with young performers, and has presented nearly 200 shows since 2009. Through her creative workshops, she has co-written songs with over 80 classes from elementary and high schools. Geneviève has also taught French as a second language in Australia and has led about twenty French immersion songwriting workshops in recent years.

Young participants are invited to dive into the adventure of songwriting. Throughout the workshops, they will learn how to choose a theme and reflect on the values they want to express. Then, they will begin creating the lyrics, rhythms, and melody. All of this happens in a friendly and playful atmosphere, which encourages appreciation for everyone’s contributions. Geneviève ensures that children feel comfortable and confident that they can contribute to the creative projects
