Sitaria is a musical project led by Uwe Neumann on the sitar, offering performances of classical Indian music. This project showcases the melodic richness and rhythmic dynamism characteristic of this musical tradition.
Uwe Neumann has presented numerous duo concerts with his project Sitaria (sitar-tablas), collaborating with masters such as Shankar Das, Jagjit Singh, Shawn Mativetsky, Hindole Mazumder, Subhen Chatterjee, Debasish Das, Subhajyoti Guha, Partha Sarathi Mukherjee, and Indranil Mallick on the tablas.
These musical encounters are marked by a profound connection between the artists, where compositions and improvisations blend harmoniously, reflecting a deep understanding of Indian music.
The sitar, originating in the 13th century, is the result of a fusion between the Veena of South India â with its raga system â and the Persian Rabab, enriched with ornamentations of Arabic influence. This synthesis gave rise to Hindustani classical music as we know it today.
