Joseph Samuel Malack, known as JSM LâOfficiel, is a Senegalese poet, slam artist, and musician with a remarkable journey. Vice-champion of Slam Poetry in the Dakar region, he is also the deputy coordinator of the Krfour Poetik Clubcollective, active at the LĂ©opold SĂ©dar Senghor Cultural Center in Pikine. Since 2018, this collective has energized the Senegalese poetry scene by organizing workshops and gatherings across the country, supporting the emergence of young voices.
JSM made his breakthrough in 2019 at the International Hip-Hop and Urban Cultures Festival (FESTAH2H) and has since multiplied performances and collaborations, including with Jim Zeller and Karl Tremblay at the GaspĂ©sie Blues Festival, as well as at the Festival International Nuits dâAfrique in Montreal.
In 2023, he represented Senegal at the Festival TransAmĂ©riques (FTA) in Montreal. In 2024, he won the AfroMonde Festival auditions in the slam category and performed on the main stage of the Old Port with his project Tukki. Later that year, he presented in Val-David his first solo show, Ăme Rythmique, a vibrant fusion of words and percussionâa true artistic manifesto.
A semi-finalist (Emerging Artist) at the Syli dâOr de la Musique du Monde 2025 and winner of the Slam Afrique en LumiĂšre competition, JSM continues his rise. He is currently working on his first album, a promising work where poetry, music, and percussive rhythms intertwine to tell the human story with strength and sensitivity.
In 2025, he performed at the Nuits dâAfrique Festival and the Kossa Africa Festival.
