During the workshop, you’ll discover every aspect of the Sanza, including its fascinating history, the legends surrounding its origin, its traditional role in African cultures, and the techniques of both crafting and playing the instrument.

Our passionate instructors will share their expertise, guiding you through the steps of learning to play the Sanza. You’ll learn the basic techniques, exploring different ways to create sounds and melodies by using your thumbs to strike the metal tines.

Additionally, to enhance your experience, you’ll witness an exclusive performance by two of the only Sanza players in Canada. This will give you the chance to hear and see this traditional African instrument played with skill and passion.

With a learning guide and 28 small Sanzas available, you’ll have all the tools you need to fully engage in this introduction to the African Sanza.
